Program Overview
Hospital Medicine 2007 is the premier meeting for healthcare professionals who specialize in hospital medicine. The Society of Hospital Medicine’s (SHM’s) 10th Annual Meeting has been designed to provide participants with tools to:
1. Improve clinical skills
2. Address operational issues with possible solutions
3. Prepare to lead change and innovation within their organizations
Education Objective
At the conclusion of this activity, participants will be able to:
* Describe current state-of-the-art clinical practice key topics in adult and pediatric hospital medicine
* Implement system changes to promote quality and improve patient safety
* Address current challenges in academic and educational systems for improving hospital medicine
* Discuss new policy, financial, ethical, legal, and management trends impacting inpatient care
CME Certification
This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and Policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint sponsorship of the American College of Physicians (ACP) and the Society of Hospital Medicine (SHM). The ACP is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing education for physicians.
The ACP designates the educational activity for the SHM Annual Meeting at a maximum of 12.25 category 1 credits toward the AMA Physician's Recognition Award. The Coding and Billing Pre-Course is designated for 3.75 credits; Critical Care Pre-Course 8 credits; Perioperative and Consultative Medicine Pre-Course 7 credits; Practice Management Pre-Course 7.25 credits, and the Quality Improvement Pre-Course 7.25 Credits. Each physician should claim only those hours of credit that he/she actually spent in each educational activity.
